According
to Hindu's myth, the most sacred Mt. Kailash formed before six millions
years ago, when the other mountains of the world were also in their
formatting stage. Mt. Kailash is a youngest mountain lying in Karakurum
range and Naga Parbat. Mount Kailah is known as a "Kang
Rimpoqhe" among the Tibetan Buddhist.
Kailash is sacred
and appreciated pilgrimage site among the Buddhist, Hindus, Jains
& Practitioners of the Bon Religions. These religius people
account millions all around the world but amazing fact is that not
more than a thousand to 1500 people Make the trip to Kailash outside
from Tibet each year. Mt. Kailash is an unique destination of being
the most venerated yet least visited of the World's major holy place.
Mount
Kailash, one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites of Asia, lies in
the southwestern section of Tibetan autonomous region of China,
Ngari. It is in the northwestern border of Nepal. Beside Nepal,
it is accessible from other two different points, which is in India
and Pakistan. Though it is possible to reach Mt. Kailash from Pakistan
via Kanjerba Pass, very few tourists take that route. The Govt.
of India has established the quota system and allows a couple of
hundred pilgrims to enter Kailash from Dharchula, India. Booking

Indian, European and only few US citizens have undertaken the land
journey of more than 800 KMS. one way.
Especially
breathtaking at 6714 meters (22022 ft.), Mt. Kailash is a glittering

among the harsh windswept landscape. West of Mt. Kailash lies the
ruins of the "lost cities" of Tsaprang and Tholing,
once the capitals of the powerful kingdom of Guge,

a bus-ride from Kathmandu Throughout Nepal Tibet border at Kodari
(160 KMS). From Zangumu journey proceeds by rugged four-wheeler

/ Kora for Tibetan Buddhist of the sacred mountain Kailash by trek.
The first day trek takes you from Darchen to Driaphuk Gompa. The
second day, known to be the most difficult part of the trek from
Driaphuk Gompa, it takes on the Dolma-La pass at 5600 meters.
The third and the final day of the Parikrama is a short one of 8
km. After that four-wheel drives takes over for the return journey
just from the same route.
Travelers
should know the journey is extreme and difficult, especially within
the Tibetan side. The route from Nylam to Lake Manasarovar is along
a rough dirt road, where four-wheelers are the standard transport.
There are very few petrol station or wayside amenities. The few
people that one would come across would invariably the members of
the nomadic people indigenous to the region.
Most of the rode is between
3700 to 4500 meters (average by above 14000 ft) and travelers may
be susceptible to attitude sickness (mild nausea and loss of appetite).
Unless acclimatization takes from a few hours to a couple of days
depending on each individuals constitution. Properly hydration being
critical to acclimatization high intakes of fluids and water is
recommended.
The
final part of the journey includes the mandatory clockwise circumnutating
of the mountain on foot. Including the important pilgrimage stop
at the Dolma-La Pass (5600meters) & Gauri Kunda. Where the temperatures
have been recorded as low as 16 Degree Celsius & normally 5
to 10 Degrees Celsius. Proper selection of clothing and equipment
